Every user gets an AI allowance, free
Every Technovault user gets a monthly AI allowance included, free — yours, across every company you work on (usable on companies with an active subscription or trial). Ask questions about the books; each answer consumes a little of it. Your exact current allowance and usage are always shown on your Billing page. When it's used up, the AI pauses until your monthly reset — it stops, it never charges you.
AI credits are yours — across every company
Want more than the included allowance? Buy AI credits — a simple one-time purchase from $10, personal, not per-company: banked on your own card, spendable everywhere you work. No subscription, nothing renews. If you keep the books for many companies, you don't buy anything per client — your included allowance is spent first, and your credits cover whichever books need more. Credits are available the moment you buy them.
The math, in one sentence
AI usage is measured in tokens (a token is roughly three-quarters of a word). Your question and the ledger data the AI reads are input tokens; its answer is output tokens. We meter tokens × the published rate for your chosen engine and subtract the resulting dollars from your budget. The full rate schedule is below — what you see is what you're charged, nothing hidden.
Worked example: a typical "find my reconciliation error" question reads ~30,000 tokens of ledger data and writes a ~1,500-token answer. On a mid-priced engine that's roughly 30k × $5/M + 1.5k × $25/M ≈ $0.19. On the cheapest engine, the same question costs about a penny.

You choose the engine per question, right in the chat. Labels show where your data is processed — that's your call to make, not ours. Your company's administrator can disable any engine for the whole company.

Credits never expire — and unused credits are refundable
Your free included allowance resets monthly and doesn't roll over — it's a gift, and a fresh one arrives each month. Purchased credits are different: they're your money. They never expire, and you can refund your entire unused balance at any time, for any reason, from your Billing page — returned to your original payment method, tax included. No lock-in, no use-it-or-lose-it.
